This route offers you the opportunity to stay in the same place for the 5 days or relocate to another hotel in the town of Onda or Suera on the 3rd day to complete the last route from there.
Welcome to cycling paradise. Upon arrival in your destination country, you will be greeted with a warm welcome at your destination airport in Valencia or Castellón and transferred to your accommodation to relax and prepare for the adventure that awaits you.
It’s time to pedal and explore! After a delicious breakfast, at 9:00AM you will embark on the first of the routes we have prepared for you. This first route runs through the most famous mountain passes of the Sierra de Espadán, the Puerto de Eslida and the Alto del Marianet. For the bravest, once you have climbed the Puerto de Eslida, you can go up to the Puntal de l’Aljub. A tough climb of just over 3 kilometres with maximum gradients of 16%. From the top you can contemplate the immensity of the Sierra de Espadán.
Finally, we will have the ascent of the Alto de la Ibola, another recent summit of La Vuelta. This summit, surrounded by forests of holm oaks, cork oaks and pines will enchant you.
In this second route we will cycle through the heart of the lesser known Sierra de Espadán. We will see its forests and animals up close. This is one of our favourite routes.Although we will not climb any major passes, the difficulty of this stage will be noticeable in our legs. The terrain consists of ups and downs, passing through the Collado de Ayodar, the Alto del Tajar, and reaching Torralba del Pinar with a 5 km climb at an average gradient of 7%. Ahead of us, we have the Collado de Jinquer (2.64 km, positive elevation gain 204 m, average gradient 7.7%) and the Alto de La Nevera (4.00 km with an average gradient of 5.4%). Along the route, there are small villages where you can rest for a few minutes, buy water, or stop for lunch.
This transition route takes us from the first hotel to the new location where we will spend the last days of our experience. We will head towards the coast, cycling along the beaches of Moncofa, Nules, and Burriana. Our route continues towards Grao de Castellón, passing by the Pinar promenade and Gurugú Beach, heading towards Benicàssim, always alongside the sea. At kilometer 50, we begin the climb of Puerto del Desierto de las Palmas—a challenging ascent with stunning landscapes combining sea and mountains. After descending, we face the second climb, La Coma, a short but steep ascent. We then descend and the remainder of the route follows a cycle path to Vilafamés, where we can rest in the hotel.
We start the route with undulating terrain, combining secondary roads with cycle paths. We pass through the villages of Cabanes, Villanueva de Alcolea reaching Torre Endomenech. Here, we begin the ascent Alto de la Serratella, a 2nd Category, climb with 15km of steep terrain and no shade, so it is advisable to start this climb with water in the bottles. Once we reach the summit, we can climb a further up to the Sant Joan Nepomucé Hermitage on a short concrete track with gradients over 12%. From the top, we have incredible views of the Maestrat area. After descending, we follow a seemingly flat road with occasional climbs. Before reaching the village of Els Rosildos, we turn to start the ascent to Coll de la Bandereta on its hardest slope—4.5km with gradients of 14% and an average of 7%. Once at the top, we descend and enjoy a pleasant ride back to our hotel.
The last route of our adventure, takes us along quiet roads between fields of olive, carob, and almond trees. The first challenge is the well-known Puerto de Infantería (2.7km, 9.6% average gradient) which connects Villafamés and Costur along a rural road surrounded by pine forests. In Atzeneta, a good place to refill water at the fountain, we begin the second climb, Puerto del Collao—a 15km ascent through a rugged landscape with little shade. Before reaching the summit, we pass through Benafigos, where we can refill water, have a drink, or eat something. From there, it’s a 20km descent, followed by a short climb to Coll de la Basa, and a few easy kilometers to the hotel.
After a final morning to relax and enjoy breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Take with you unforgettable memories, new friendships, and the satisfaction of having conquered miles of scenic roads. We will provide you with digital photos or videos of your experience to cherish.
